Sally Hansen & the Blackhearts (BPS Stamping Plate Review)

(with apologies to Joan Jett)

Hello again!

I am sick of being sick. :P

You know what's good for that, though? Rest, hot tea, and having more Born Pretty Store goodies delivered! A few days ago, I received handful of stamping plates and a really cool colour-changing polish :D I'll show you the polish next time! I haven't been stamping as much lately, so I wanted to get my hands on the plates first, and ended up with this little mani I almost called "Garden of Hearts".

I started with a coat of OPI Be Magentale With Me, the pink Sheer Tint polish. I've decided this is my new favourite French-tip base colour. It covers any staining really nicely and give that healthy pink look. Marvellous!

Next, I used Born Pretty Store plate BP-51 and Konad black stamping polish to add the heart design, with the stems going towards the tip of my nail. I tried to put them at different heights and such. It didn't come out quite straight (my fault), and there are some gaps in the stamped image (partially my fault, but the consistency of certain issues suggests a possible plate problem here and there as well).

I'm going to give this one another try, because the plates seem to be really good, and I think my stamping polish may be a bit old. Look at all the cute patterns on this one!

Anyway, after that, I painted the tips with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Straw-Ready. A really full-on hot pink, and it covers in just one coat--even over the black stamped lines! I wanted it to look like the hearts were growing up from the tips. I also used a dotting tool to fill in some of the bigger hearts with the same pink creme. To finish off the look, I used a black striper to line the tip, then topped it all with Seche Vite :)

This plate can be found here, and is only $3 USD, with free shipping (as always)! They have tons of plates available, and it looks like the quality and image size has improved a lot from when they first started making plates. They're all very well-priced, and if you use discount code CITYG10, you can get even more of a deal!

I'm wearing the colour-changing polish now and it's SO cool. Check back soon to see it!! xoxo
