Hello gorgeous! (Yes, I'm talking to you!)
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I had a much-needed few days at the beach with some friends. It had been entirely too long since I had sun and warm weather. Got a bit burned, but nonetheless, I had a great time :D
As I mentioned in my last post, I had a special manicure planned for this trip! Unfortunately, however, I didn't get many good pics of it. :( I took a few before I left, which was good, because by the time I had a chance to get out in the sun to get good photos, it had already gotten ruined. I had done them in a hurry (had to slap it on and then jump in the car for a 6-hour drive!) so it's a bit sloppy around the edges, but hopefully you can get the idea. They were so beautiful for a day...

I found those tiny seashells last summer and had this idea in my head ever since, but never got around to it. It didn't seem right for winter. But the timing was just perfect for this trip--Zoya just released their Pixie Dust matte-glitter line, and Godiva was exactly what I needed to make this look real!
First things first... the blue background is
Color Club's
Over The Moon, from the 2013 Halo Hues. Absolutely stunning holo effect and that's just one coat! It looks like pretty blue ocean water with the sun shining through, doesn't it?
The tips are 2-3 coats of the aforementioned
Zoya Godiva. I cannot get over how
exactly like sand it looks. I wasn't digging the OPI Liquid Sand polishes, but I have three of the Pixie Dust colours and I really like them. This one in particular... I KNEW I had to own it as soon as I saw the previews for it, just so I could finally do this manicure. :D Again, the timing was perfect. Both the polishes I used were released
earlier this year, so if I'd done it when I first picked up the shells,
it wouldn't have been nearly as cool.
The tiny shells were glued on with a generous amount of nail glue, both underneath to stick them down and then I dabbed some around each shell so they would hopefully stay. However, they did not :( I think the problem wasn't the glue, but the thick layer of that sandy polish they were attached to. When they popped off (as early as in the shower the next morning) they took all the polish underneath with them. I had planned to do a "photo shoot" with them down by the seaside, but it didn't work out. So you'll have to make do with these indoor-flash pics. It still looks pretty stunning, I think.

I'm pretty happy with this idea--I haven't seen anyone do this yet!--and glad I finally got to make it happen, even if it didn't last long.
