EDC-Inspired Water Marble with Butterflies

Hello my beauties! And welcome to all my new viewers! I seem to have a recent jump in pageviews--I hope you like it here :) (I just miiiiight be doing a giveaway soon, so spread the word!)

For now, I want to show you some funky nails inspired by a really cool outfit my friend made for EDC this year!

EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) is an awesome annual dance-music festival, and lots of people who go buy or make cute themed outfits to wear each night. This one my friend Tori made was incredibly cute--she and her sister are so talented!--and the colours and butterflies inspired me!

So I marbled with OPI Eurso Euro (royal/navy blue), Sinful Colors Bamboo (teal), Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow (yellow), Nina Ultra Pro Violet It Ride (fuchsia/hot pink), and Cover Girl Vio-last (purple).

It is so cold in my house (winter, no heating) that I had a really hard time marbling! The polishes dried very quickly on the surface. I had to use warm water in order to get it to work at all. But I managed, and topped off my colourful marble with China Glaze Fairy Dust for sparkle!

Now for the butterflies! I painted these with black and white acrylic paints, then filled them in with some bright colours on top of the white sections. I tried to make each one shaped just a little differently.

And of course, it's all topcoated with Seche Vite.

These pics were actually taken on day 2, hence the tiny bit of tipwear on the middle finger. The day I finished these, I stepped outside to take photos, but noticed the light outside was very red. All my pics were way too warm and the colours weren't right. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I was told it was due to bushfires in the area--I could smell the smoke, but I am used to smelling bonfires or smoke from chimneys so it didn't register. But in Australia, wildfires are unfortunately common, and the smoke and debris in the air can diffuse the light in such a way that the skies and ambient light takes on a reddish hue, even quite far away from the original site. I didn't know this, but now I do, and maybe you learned something too!

Anyway, there's my colourful EDC-inspired nails. I did nails for two of these awesome ladies for last year's EDC--maybe I'll do a post showing those soon. For now, have a great day, and I'll see you next time! xoxo
