My Logo on my Nails!

Good day! :)

I am so excited to share today's mani! I've been wanting to do this for a while, and finally got just the right tools to do it: I've recreated my little glitter-lightning-bolt logo on my nails!

(One thing I should take a moment to explain is that the name of the site comes from a combination of glitter + electricity--hence the sparkly bolt. People often mistake it for Glitter City, and in retrospect perhaps that was a good name too! But when I made up the name, I was going for something creative and unique, a portmanteau of words à la mode de Lewis Carroll. So there you have it--the story behind the name!)

Anyway... these nails are so insanely sparkly! Those of you who follow me on Instagram or Facebook may have seen the photo of the glitters I found at the craft store the other day--a pack of 9 colours of holographic awesomeness!

This gorgeous blue seems to be the most holo of the bunch, so I wanted to use it first. I laid down a base of a matching polish--Pure Ice Pussy Cat, a nice sky-blue metallic shade that's even a one coater! I would only use one coat under glitter like this anyway, but it's nice to know it could be worn on its own that way. But while it was wet, I sprinkled on this beautiful glitter.

I got a short video of it, also on Instagram... it's just one of those things you have to see "in motion"!

Of course, all that loose glitter is incredibly topcoat-hungry. I used two coats of Maya's Smoothing Coat for Glitters, then two of Seche Vite to seal it all in and leave a glossy finish! Last, for the middle finger, I used black acrylic paint to draw the outline of the lightning bolt, and then fill in the outside. One more layer of topcoat to protect THAT, and I have super cute nails that are also a little tribute to the blog! :D

Indoors with flash, and with the base colour :) Pure Ice is such an underrated brand--it rocks and is affordable to boot!
Outdoors in shade. It's so weird how much more dull even the main colour looks in indirect light. But even here, the holo action is showing. There are no other colours of glitter here--it's just the prismatic effect making all that happen!
Outdoors in sun
Outdoors in sun again, all blurry to show that rainbowy goodness
One more, because I really like this pic. Glittericity nails!

I think I have a new profile pic for my social media sites, eh? :D  Follow me on one of them if you'd like--and I'll see you next time! xoxo
